Responsibilities

The Operations Manager is responsible for all aspects of landscape management and installation of enhancement & irrigation projects. These responsibilities include supervising field personnel, managing subcontractors, overseeing projects to substantial completion and through the warranty period, communicating with customers, designers, and maintaining quality standards. The Operations Manager coordinates and works with the Account Executive/Managers, along with their team of Area Managers/Field Managers to schedule manpower and equipment resources.

  • Ensure all equipment for projects and service accounts are available when needed.
  • Evaluates equipment utilization and makes recommendations for future purchases.
  • Manages equipment service records and ensures property fleet management is being held for all accounts.
  • Responsible for safety; tracking Additional Authorization Work (AWA); purchasing; and, daily schedules of personnel, equipment and materials associated with landscape management and enhancement projects.
  • Ensures all workers compensation insurance claims are properly documented and reported immediately.
  • Contact utility company regarding line location and secure any permits required or affirm their Area Managers/Field Managers have done so.
  • Manage, direct, and train landscape management employees and perform annual reviews.
  • Writes, maintains and updates company SOP’s for Landscape Management. (standard operating procedures)
  • Ensures that company employee manual and safety manual are adhered to by all staff.
  • Manage the daily operations of multiple maintenance properties and installations.
  • Responsible for recruitment, hiring and retention of employees; and approval of timesheets and employee leave requests.
  • Ensures that accounting receives all paperwork from the field on a timely basis.
  • Responsible for initial site visits and cost estimating.
  • Ensures that job cost reports are properly analyzed and disseminated.
  • Assists in bidding process as needed. (ie. Hours, materials, ect)
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and achievement of the company’s annual budget goals.
  • Maintain a high level of quality and efficiency in the field.
  • Serve as liaison between MLI, property managers, owners, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Keep record of personnel matters, vehicles, and service requests
  • Ensure customer satisfaction, respond to customer complaints and special requests, and promote company image

Qualifications

  • Experience with commercial and residential landscape maintenance/enhancements to include budgeting, job costing, materials management, project management, production and scheduling
  • Horticulture knowledge to include plant identification
  • Proficiency in irrigation systems, diagnosis and repair
  • Knowledge of blueprints, takeoffs, plant material, hardscapes and water features
  • Strong ability to lead, train and support crew members
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Must be customer service oriented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

The Irrigation Install Technician is completely responsible for planning and executing all aspects of Irrigation installations, including installing multiple types of systems, pipe configurations, wiring within landscape installation projects.

Responsibilities
Duties include general labor management, accepting material at the site when necessary, customer relations and overseeing safety on the job.

  • Manages 3-5 employees on crews and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
    Will be responsible for ensuring all crew members are in company uniform and are wearing the proper safety gear as required (safety glasses, ear plugs, boots, etc.).
  • Will be responsible for the safety and management of crew members.

  • Must be proficient with irrigation machinery (walk behind and ride on trenchers, skid steer, excavator, truck and trailer, and a variety of gas powered/electric tools).
  • Must be able to competently haul machinery with trucks and trailers. CDL license a plus.
    Actively participate in team meetings.
  • Competent skills in reading and implementing irrigation design drawings.
  • Must be able to think creatively to meet site conditions and possess the ability to make decisions on and off design changes.
  • Candidate should have 3+ years of working as a crew foreman for an irrigation company.

Job Summary: The Human Resources Manager is a critical business partner to the CFO, CEO, and branch managers. The HR Manager will lead recruiting, talent development, employee relations, and related compliance matters at MLI, and assist in overseeing the company’s insurance and benefits portfolio. The most important responsibilities for this position are:

Partner with senior leaders and business unit managers to ensure MLI develops and attracts the best employees to support growth.
Assist in Manage insurance and benefits portfolio to protect MLI, its employees, and its customers from risk at a competitive cost.
Develop and maintain processes to ensure safe operations and compliance with laws, regulations, and obligations to customers, insurers, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

Recruiting:

  • Organize and lead MLI’s efforts to attract and retain the most successful landscaping team in the Indiana market
  • Own and improve the Company’s recruiting processes and policies
  • Manage the recruiting and onboarding processes for office-based positions
  • Update field staff onboarding processes and oversee the onboarding process
  • Organize, Attend and Promote recruiting functions.

Talent Development:

  • Promote training and development of current employees, such as basic skills training, professional certifications, continuing education, and management/executive training

Employee Relations:

  • Support managers as needed in hiring, firing, grievance, performance improvement, and other employee relations matters
  • Ensure that MLI meets contractual and regulatory obligations toward its employees.
  • Develop and manage processes for field workforce recruiting and retention, including seasonal layoffs and retention from season to season.

Insurance and Benefits:

  • Lead the selection and renewal process for insurance policies and benefit plans.
  • Manage property and injury claims to conclusion, as the liaison between insurance carriers, claimants, and the business

Policies and Procedures:

  • Ensure that MLI is “simple and easy to work with” for employees and job candidates.
  • Identify risks and gaps in existing policies and develop policies to address them.
  • Manage the annual performance review process.
